经典圣诞颂歌简介（二）---以马内利恳求降临（O Come, O Come, Emmanuel）
《以马内利恳求降临》译自拉丁文版本《Veni, veni, Emmanuel》，用以在将临期（Advent）和圣诞节演唱，是著名的圣诞颂歌之一。
这首诗歌以旧约以赛亚书的应许为基础，盼望救主以马内利的降临。
这首诗歌原始有五段歌词，晚期又加上两段歌词，每段歌词的开始引用旧约圣经。英文歌词最早是1851年约翰. M. 尼尔（John M. Neale）翻译，后经托马斯. A. 莱西（Thomas Alexander Lacey）于1906年修正以接近现代英文。亨利. S. 科芬（Henry Sloane Coffin）于1916年加上晚期两段歌词的英文翻译。
原始五段歌词的首句，分别引用旧约圣经有关弥赛亚的期盼。
1. 以马内利恳求降临（“Veni, veni Emmanuel!”“O Come, O Come, Emmanuel”）
“必有童女怀孕生子，给祂起名叫以马内利。”（The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.）（赛7:14）
2. 耶西之杖恳求降临（“Veni, O Jesse Virgula” “O Come, Thou Rod ofJesse”）
“从耶西的本必发一条，从他生的枝子必结果实。”（A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.）（赛11:1）
3. 清晨日光恳求降临 (“Veni, veni, O Oriens”---“O come, Thou Day spring, from on High”)
“你自生以来，曾命定晨光，使清晨的日光知道本位。”（Have you ever given orders to the morning, or shown the dawn its place.）（伯38:12-13；参路1:78-79）
4. 大卫之钥恳求降临("Veni, clavis Davidica"---"O come,Thou Key of David, come")
“我必将大卫家的钥匙放在他肩头上。他开，无人能关。他关，无人能开。”（I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.）（赛22：22）
5. 全能真神恳求降临("Veni, veni, Adonai"---"O come, Adonai, Lord of might")
“祂名称为奇妙，策士，全能的神，永在的父，和平的君。”（And He will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.）（赛9:6）
后来加上的两段，开头首句是：
6. 荣耀君王恳求降临(“Veni, O Sapientia,”---“O come, Thou Wisdom from on high”)
“我智慧以灵明为居所，又寻得知识和谋略。”（I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion.）（箴8:12）
7. 万邦所望恳求降临(“Veni, Veni, Rex Gentium”, “O come, Desire of nations”)
“我必震动万国。万国的珍宝必都运来（或作，“万国所羡慕的必来到”）。”（I will shake all nations, and the desired of all nations will come.）（该2:7）
中文诗歌集《生命圣诗》（Hymns of Life）引用原始第一至四段歌词，中文《教会圣诗》（Hymns for God’s People）引用第一、三和第六、七段歌词。

“耶西之杖恳求降临，撒但手中释放子民；地狱深处拯救子民，使众得胜死亡之坟。”
以马内利降临，不仅仅是为拯救以色列民，而且要拯救祂所有的百姓。“因祂要将自己的百姓从罪恶里救出来。”（太1：21）这正是圣诞的根本意义所在。
