约翰福音信息之四十---活水的江河

约7:37-39

住棚节是以色列三大节期之一,也是庆祝丰收、欢喜快乐的节日。住棚节庆祝的礼仪之一,是七日内每日从圣殿到基训河的游行,祭司用一个金罐在西罗亚池子打满水,有人诵读以赛亚书十二章的经文:“你们必从救恩的泉源欢然取水。”然后,游行队伍回到圣殿,祭司要将金罐里的水倒在祭坛上,同时有诗班吟唱赞美的诗篇(诗113-118),用以纪念以色列人在旷野漂流时,神使磐石出水解除以色列人的干渴(出17:1-7;民20:8-11)。


“百姓在那里甚渴,要喝水,就向摩西发怨言。…摩西就呼求耶和华说,我向这百姓怎样行呢?…耶和华对摩西说,…我必在何烈的磐石那里,站在你面前。你要击打磐石,从磐石里必有水流出来,使百姓可以喝。”(出17:3-6)


在寻的旷野,以色列人因为口渴没有水喝再次向摩西争闹,神要摩西在众人面前吩咐磐石出水,但这一次摩西因为怒气击打磐石两下,有很多水从磐石流出来。但摩西因为没有在以色列众人面前尊主为大,竟不能过约旦河进入应许的迦南地。


所以住棚节用水浇奠祭坛的礼仪用来纪念神在旷野使磐石出水供应以色列民,正如诗篇所记:

“祂在旷野分裂磐石,多多地给他们水喝,如从深渊而出。祂使水从磐石涌出,叫水如江河下流。”(诗78:15-16)


“He split the rocks in the desert and gave them water as abundant as the seas; He brought streams out of a rocky crag and made water flow down like rivers.”(Ps 78:15-16)


犹太人庆祝住棚节的这一礼仪,除了纪念以色列人在旷野时神使磐石出水的奇妙供应之外,也预言性地指向当弥赛亚时代到来之时,那赐生命的活水必从耶路撒冷的圣殿起始在全地源源不断地涌流,使万物复苏、生命更新。


“那日必有活水从耶路撒冷出来,一半往东海流,一半往西海流,冬夏都是如此。”(亚14:8)


“On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half to the eastern sea and half to the western sea, in summer and in winter.”


因为以色列地不像埃及地可以用河水浇灌,乃是完全仰仗神赐雨水,因此住棚节的礼仪也是以色列民向神祈求,“从天降雨,赏赐丰年。”


在节期的最后也是最大之日,当祭司行完上述礼仪、当诗班唱过赞颂的诗篇、当众人齐声祷告祈求神的恩惠之时,耶稣站起来高声宣告如下惊人之语:


“人若渴了,可以到我这里来喝。信我的人,就如经上所说,从他腹中要流出活水的江河来。”(约7:37-38)


“If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.”(John 7:37-38)


一.世人灵魂的干渴


“人若渴了…”(If anyone is thirsty)(约9:37)


水对生命的重要性众不言而喻。人体大约70%的成分是水,血液中92%的成分是水。 水是人体血液循环、物质交换、新陈代谢等生理机制的重要媒介,没有水就没有生命。地球的表面百分之六七十被水覆盖,足以显示神的慷慨、恩慈和伟大。


人都有干渴的经历,干渴大概是堕落的人类最普遍、最难忍的痛苦之一。你用不着穿越沙漠才能体会干渴的滋味,只要在炎热夏天的太阳底下干几小时的农活,或者随便活动两个小时,你就知道什么是干渴。如果一个人极度干渴而得不到饮水,他的性命大概坚持不到一个礼拜。


创世记二十一章,亚伯拉罕遵从妻子撒拉的意见,打发他的妾夏甲和儿子以实玛利离开家门,亚伯拉罕清早起来,特地拿饼和一皮袋水交给夏甲。可见在旷野中水是救命的宝贝。夏甲和儿子在旷野迷路,皮袋里的水用尽了,夏甲不忍看着儿子渴死,就坐在地上放声大哭。


“神使夏甲的眼睛明亮,她就看见一口水井,便去将皮袋盛满了水,给童子喝。”(创21:19)


“Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water. So she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink.”(Gen 21:19)


亚伯拉罕和以撒都曾因为水井的缘故与亚比米勒王起过争执和冲突。以色列人在旷野漂流时,与摩西争闹最常见的原因,就是没有水喝。


约书亚记十五章记载,水井甚至是那个时代女人出嫁的嫁妆。


“押撒过门的时候,劝丈夫向她父亲求一块田,押撒一下驴,迦勒问她说,‘你要什么?’ 她说,‘求你赐福给我,你既将我安置在南地,求你也给我水泉。她父亲就把上泉下泉赐给她。’”(书15:18-19)


“One day when she came to Othniel, she urged him to ask her father for a field. When she got off her donkey, Caleb asked her, "What can I do for you?" She replied, "Do me a special favor. Since you have given me land in the Negev, give me also springs of water." So Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs.”(Josh 15:18-19)


大卫一次干渴,想要喝伯利恒城门前的井水,三个勇士穿过非利士人的营盘,冒死为他打水。

先知以利亚先是喝基立溪的河水,后来溪水干了,神吩咐以利亚来到西顿的撒勒法,他对一个寡妇说,“求你用器皿取点水来给我喝。”(王上17:10)


列王记下第三章,以色列王、犹大王、以东王联合攻打摩押王,他们一同绕行七日的路程,军队和牲畜没有水喝。如果不是先知以利沙出手解救,将面临因干渴而全军覆没的灭顶之灾。


新约路加福音十六章“财主和拉撒路”的比喻中,财主在阴间远远看见拉撒路在亚伯拉罕的怀里,就呼叫说,“我祖亚伯拉罕哪,可怜我吧,打发拉撒路来,用指头尖蘸点水,凉凉我的舌头。因为我在这火焰里,极其痛苦。”(路16:24)


“Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.”(Luke 16:24)


当你干渴的时候你怎么办?很简单---喝水!迄今为止,市场上各样的饮料五花八门,但水仍然是最好的饮料。


被称为矿泉水大王的农夫山泉董事长钟睒睒,2020年9月8日随着农夫山泉上市,超越马云、马化腾晋升为中国首富。截至2020年底,钟睒睒以778亿美元身家位列亚洲首富。一个以卖矿泉水起家的商人,竟然跻身为全球第八富豪,可想矿泉水每日的销售量有多大?顺推可知世人的干渴程度有多大?


身体的干渴固然难耐,但灵魂的干渴更加凄惨!


“你必汗流满面才得糊口,直到你归了土。”(创3:19)


“By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground.”(Gen 3:19)


如果说,人类堕落之后“汗流满面才得糊口直到归入尘土”是所有人的光景,那么,人类灵魂深处的干渴更是堕落人类共同的凄惨遭遇。因为,在内心深处你清楚知道,死亡和坟墓并不是世人一了百了的最后归宿,在肉身死亡之后一定还有什么东西在等待着,那就是圣经所说的,“按着定命,人人都有一死,死后且有审判。”(来9:27)


“Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.”(Heb 9:27)


“神造万物,各按其时成为美好。又将永生安置在世人心里。然而神从始至终的作为,人不能参透。”(传3:11)


“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”(Eccl 3:11)


神在造人时,人心中都留下一个空洞,唯有神自己才能充满。然而当世人茫然无知不认识神时,他们便试图用金钱、财富、权力、名利、贪腐、享乐、地位、荣誉、学问、成就、奖励、情色、酒精、大麻、赌注、手机、上网、游戏、网恋、网红、追星、变态等等代替,试图用形形色色的东西充满内心的空洞,解除灵魂的干渴,但所有这些都是无功而返。


这种灵魂的干渴正如使徒行传第二章的记载,“众人听见这话,觉得扎心,就对彼得和其余的使徒说,‘弟兄们,我们当怎样行?’”(徒2:37)


“When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?"”(Acts 2:37)


奥古斯丁说:“神啊,你为自己创造了我们。我们永远得不到安息,直到有一天安息在你的怀里。”


二.基督恩典的呼召


“人若渴了,可以到我这里来喝。”(约7:37)


“If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.”(John 7:37)


这是主耶稣最伟大说话的其中之一,从来没有神的先知、仆人、使徒能以这样的口吻说话。

摩西在以色列人心目中的地位几乎就像神一样,直到新约时代,法利赛人竟以“作耶稣的门徒”感到奇耻大辱,但却不无自豪地说,“我们是摩西的门徒。”(“We are disciples of Moses.”)(约/John 9:28)但摩西在神面前怎么说话?


“我是谁?竟能到法老那里去,把以色列人从埃及领出来呢?”(出3:11,新译本)


“Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”(Exod 3:11)


先知以利亚顶天立地、威风凛凛,令假先知闻风丧胆。然而,以利亚在神面前怎么说话?


“耶和华阿,求你应允我,应允我。使这民知道你耶和华是神。”(王上18:37)


“Answer me, O LORD, answer me, so these people will know that you, O LORD, are God。”(1 Kings 18:37)


施洗约翰是基督的先锋,主耶稣曾论到他说,凡妇人所生的,没有人兴起来大过施洗约翰的。然而,施洗约翰论到主耶稣怎么说话?


“那在我以后来的,我给祂解鞋带也不配。”(约1:27)


“He is the one who comes after me, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.”(John 1:27)


保罗是最伟大的使徒,他一个人书写了新约圣经的差不多一半,他和他的同工在以步行为主要交通工具的时代,将福音传到地极。然而,保罗论到主耶稣怎么说话?


“但我断不以别的夸口,只夸我们主耶稣基督的十字架。”(加6:14)


“May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.”(Gal 6:14)


唯有主耶稣可以这样说话,“人若渴了,可以到这里来喝。”(约7:37)


“If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.”(John 7:37)


莱尔主教把主耶稣约7:37-38这句话和主耶稣其他六句话放在一起,对应十架七言,并列称为福音书中主耶稣的七段锦句:


“我就是生命的粮。到我这里来的,必定不饿。信我的,永远不渴。”(约6:35)


“I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me will never go hungry, and he who believes in Me will never be thirsty.”(John 6:35)


“凡父所赐给我的人,必到我这里来。到我这里来的,我总不丢弃他。”(约6:37)


“All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and whoever comes to Me I will never drive away.”(John 6:37)


“我是世界的光。跟从我的,就不在黑暗里走,必要得着生命的光。”(约8:12)


“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”(John 8:12)


“我就是门。凡从我进来的,必然得救,并且出入得草吃。”(约10:9)


“I am the gate; whoever enters through Me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture.”(John 10:9)


“我就是道路,真理,生命,若不借着我,没有人能到父那里去。”(约14:6)


“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”(John 14:6)


“凡劳苦担重担的人,可以到我这里来,我就使你们得安息。”(太11:28)


“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”(Matt 11:28)


“人若渴了,可以到我这里来喝。信我的人,就如经上所说,从他腹中要流出活水的江河来。”(约7:37-38)

主耶稣的恩召基于这样的事实:以色列住棚节的礼仪所预表的以及所期待的,在耶稣基督身上得到完全的应验:旷野的磐石正是预表耶稣基督;摩西击打的磐石预表耶稣基督的十字架;从磐石中涌出活水,正是耶稣基督在十字架上被罗马兵丁枪扎时有血与水从祂肋旁流出来;至于住棚节庆祝礼仪对神恩惠的祈求以及对弥赛亚国度的期盼,那位真正的救主弥赛亚此时此刻正真真实实地站立在众人面前。


“(他们)也都喝了一样的灵水,所喝的是出于随着他们的灵磐石,那磐石就是基督。”(林前10:4)


“And drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.”(1 Cor 10:4)


“惟有一个兵拿枪扎他的肋旁,随即有血和水流出来。”(约19:34)


“Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus' side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.”(John 19:34)


主耶稣是生命的源头和赐予者,正如没有水就没有生命,同样,没有耶稣基督活水的源泉,就没有灵魂的永生。因为只有在基督里,才有赦免、饶恕、怜悯、恩典、安息、平安、盼望和满足。


“因为世人都犯了罪,亏缺了神的荣耀。如今却蒙神的恩典,因基督耶稣的救赎,就白白地称义。”(罗3:23-24)


“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”(Rom 3:23-24)


2021年3月,包钢一名职工跳进炼钢高炉炽热的钢水中自杀,据厂方后来的声明说,怀疑是因为股票亏损压力过大所致,如此决绝的自杀实在让人无比地揪心和伤痛。


几年前因为赌博被判五年徒刑的炫富女,最近因为涉嫌制作销售有毒违禁药再次被抓。纵观她所走过的人生轨迹,追求的全是诸如情色、包养、赌博、网红、毒品等一夜暴富的生活。然而,所有这些从来没有成为她真正的满足。一个眉清目秀的女孩,本来可以过一种踏踏实实、自食其力、丰富多彩的生活,却陷入用错误方式填补内心空虚的歧途不能自拔。


目睹许许多多的人,因不认识耶稣基督而把自己的生活弄得一塌糊涂,由此想到,一个人能够信靠耶稣基督是何等的有福和感恩。


“盗贼来,无非要偷窃,杀害,毁坏。我来了,是要叫羊(人)得生命,并且得的更丰盛。”(约10:10)


“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”(John 10:10)


魔鬼撒但来是偷窃、毁坏、杀害;耶稣基督来是叫人得丰盛的生命!


唯有耶稣基督能够解除人灵魂的干渴;

唯有耶稣基督可以满足人内心的空虚;

唯有耶稣基督能除去你的罪疚和耻辱;

唯有耶稣基督可施行内在医治和修复。


三.活水的江河


“信我的人,就如经上所说,从他腹中要流出活水的江河来。”(约7:38)


“Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.”(John 7:38)


河流与人类的生存、城市的建筑、人口的迁徙、文明的发展等都息息相关,古老的河流也常常是古老文明的发源地。比如:中国的长江黄河,美索不达米亚(两河流域)的幼发拉底河与底格里斯河,印度的恒河,埃及的尼罗河,德国的莱茵河,英国的泰晤士河,美国的密西西比河,俄罗斯的伏尔加河,欧洲的多瑙河,非洲的刚果河,南美洲热带雨林的亚马逊河… 河流孕育生命,可以说,没有这些星罗棋布河流,就没有人类的繁衍生息。


“耶稣这话是指着信祂之人,要受圣灵说的。”(约7:39)


“By this He meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were later to receive.”(John 7:39)


主耶稣把被圣灵更新之人的生命做一个如此充满生机的比喻:“从他腹中要流出活水的江河来。”


这是主耶稣宝贵的应许!


“就如经上所说,”旧约哪些经文应许圣灵的浇灌和赐福?


“因为我要将水浇灌口渴的人,将河浇灌干旱之地。我要将我的灵浇灌你的后裔,将我的福浇灌你的子孙。他们要发生在草中,像溪水旁的柳树。”(赛44:3-4)


“For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out My Spirit on your offspring, and My blessing on your descendants. They will spring up like grass in a meadow, like poplar trees by flowing streams.”(Isa 44:3-4)


“你们一切干渴的都当就近水来,没有银钱的也可以来。”(赛55:1)


"Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money.”(Isa 55:1)


“你心若向饥饿的人发怜悯,使困苦的人得满足。你的光就必在黑暗中发现,你的幽暗必变如正午。耶和华也必时常引导你,在干旱之地,使你心满意足,骨头强壮。你必像浇灌的园子,又像水流不绝的泉源。”(赛58:10-11)


“And if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. The LORD will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”(Isa 58:10-11)


“到那日,大山要滴甜酒。小山要流奶子,犹大溪河都有水流。必有泉源从耶和华的殿中流出来,滋润什亭谷。”(珥3:18)


“In that day the mountains will drip new wine, and the hills will flow with milk; all the ravines of Judah will run with water. A fountain will flow out of the LORD'S house and will water the valley of acacias.”(Joel 3:18)


“那日,必给大卫家和耶路撒冷的居民,开一个泉源,洗除罪恶与污秽。”(亚13:1)


“On that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity.”(Zech 13:1)


“神的应许,不论有多少,在基督都是是的,所以借着祂也都是实在的,叫神因我们得荣耀。”(林后1:20)


“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through Him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God.”(2 Cor 1:20)


神的应许与人的承诺是不同的。人的承诺受自身能力和外部环境的限制,有可能无法兑现;但神的应许永远不会落空必然成就。


挪亚时代的方舟,以色列为奴四百年后的出埃及,基督将出自犹大支派的大卫家族,以色列的亡国与复国,耶稣基督被钉死十字架反而成就赦罪救恩。这些在人看来都是不可能的,但神都一一实现了。


“我们纵然失信,祂仍是可信的,因为祂不能背乎自己。”(提后2:13)


“If we are faithless, He will remain faithful, for He cannot disown Himself.”(2 Tim 2:13)


“信我的人,”流通圣灵活水江河的唯一条件是,相信接受耶稣基督。只有那些承认自己的罪恶过犯,只有那些认识到自己灵里贫穷的人,才会寻求耶稣基督。而那些寻求主的人,主应许说必然寻见。


“耶稣这话是指着信祂之人,要受圣灵说的,那时还没有赐下圣灵来,因为耶稣尚未得着荣耀。”(约7:39)


“By this He meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.”(John 7:39)


活水的江河,是主耶稣“指着信祂之人要受圣灵说的,”指圣灵的感动、圣灵的洗礼、圣灵的印记、圣灵的内住、圣灵的恩赐、圣灵的祝福。


“若不是被圣灵感动的,也没有能说耶稣是主的。”(林前12:3)


“And no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.”(1 Cor 12:3)


“我们不拘是犹太人,是希利尼人,是为奴的,是自主的,都从一位圣灵受洗,成了一个身体。饮于一位圣灵。”(林前12:13)


“For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free--and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.”(1 Cor 12:13)


“既然信祂,就受了所应许的圣灵为印记。”(弗1:13)


“Having believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.”(Eph 1:13)


“这一切(属灵恩赐)都是这位圣灵所运行,随己意分给各人的。”(林前12:11)


“All these (Spiritual gifts)are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.”(1 Cor 12:11)


“他要像一棵树栽在溪水旁,按时候结果子,叶子也不枯干。凡他所作的,尽都顺利。”(诗1:3)


“He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.” (Ps 1:3)


主耶稣所说的这活水江河,不仅使因信被圣灵充满者自己---止息内在的干渴,洁净内心的污垢,沉睡灵魂的苏醒,平安喜乐的满足;而且它像一条奔腾不息的河流,一条流通赐福的管道,浇灌滋润周围的人们。


先知使徒在圣灵默示之下写就的新旧约圣经,造就世世代代千千万万的人们。


耶柔米、约翰胡斯、威克里夫等人的圣经翻译,马丁路德的宗教改革,约翰加尔文的《基督教要义》,约翰班扬的《天路历程》,李文斯顿、戴德生、威廉克理等神的仆人使女在世界各地默默牺牲的宣教,被称作“讲道王子”的司布真的讲章,约翰卫斯理、乔治怀腓特、D. L. 慕迪、葛培理、唐崇荣等人的全球布道,查尔斯卫斯理、以撒瓦兹、芬尼·克罗斯贝等人的圣诗,被称作是第五本福音的巴赫的圣乐, C. S. 路易斯为孩子们写的通话小说以及护教书籍,牛顿、法拉第、巴斯德等荣神益人的科学发现,麦道卫的《铁证待判》,王明道文集… 这些人因信都在不断地说话,从他们身上所流溢出的活水江河,流通滋润了不计其数的人们。


也许你会说,上述这些都是成就丰功伟业的为人,我们这些凡夫俗子不可能做出像他们那样的大事。然而,每一个神的儿女都有圣灵的恩赐去祝福别人。当你去探访那些孤独的人们,当你为在极难中的人们祷告,当你为病痛的人们送去你精心预备的可口饭菜,当你向困境中的人们伸出援手,当你在团契中带领诗歌或查经,当你教导小孩子们背诵圣经的话语,当你为抑郁症患者提供劝导和安慰,当你向家人、朋友、同事、邻居分享耶稣基督的恩典… 所有这一切都是接通活水的江河,流通圣灵的赐福。


当你靠着主的恩典,兢兢业业地工作,诚诚实实地劳动,真诚无伪地待人,甘心乐意地服事,就必成为他人的祝福。就连十字架上那个强盗,他信主几小时后就被钉死,然而他对耶稣基督的信心和盼望,也激励和造就历代许许多多的人。


“圣灵所结的果子,就是仁爱,喜乐,和平,忍耐,恩慈,良善,信实,温柔,节制。”(加5:22-23)


“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”(Gal 5:22-23)


如果你的生命中结出圣灵的果子,不仅使自己蒙福,同时也必然成为身边人的祝福。


相反,死海(Dead Sea)里没有鱼虾或其他生物,因为死海的水只进不出,没有流出的通道,累积高浓度的盐分,所以没有生命生长。


圣诗:《籍我赐恩福》


1.在尘世生命崎岖道路中,

多少人困倦悲伤,

黑暗满布,快把真光照亮,

使忧伤者变欢畅。


2. 述说耶稣基督慈爱故事,

述说祂赦罪大能;

别人信主要借你去见证,

生活时刻象明灯。


3.既蒙主供应当白白施与,

当爱人象主爱你;

对软弱无助者尽力帮扶,

要忠于主的托付。


副歌:籍我赐恩福,籍我赐恩福,

籍我生命,荣耀主名;

籍我赐恩福,救主听我求,

籍我赐恩福,使他人得救。


最后,让我们对耶稣基督这一伟大呼召和宝贵应许做一小结:


1. 哪些人是灵里干渴的人?世上所有的人们。

在第一次世界大战的巴勒斯坦解放期间,英,澳,纽三国联军合力追赶向沙漠撤退的土耳其军队。当盟军向北移动经过别是巴时,他们开始远离运水的骆驼车队。当饮水用完之后,他们的嘴干燥如火,开始出现头疼、头晕、虚脱、眼睛充血、嘴唇肿胀发紫等症状,并出现沙漠中常见的海市蜃楼景象。他们知道,如果他们不能在夜幕降临之前占领谢里亚的水井,那么成千上万的人将会丧生,因为有几百人已经死去。为了自己的生命而战,他们竭力将土耳其人赶出了谢里亚。


当从巨大的石制储水池中分发饮水时,他们安排身体强壮一些的人站岗放哨,等待伤员和那些要当值的人首先喝水。当最后一个人喝完饮水时一共花了四个小时。在那段时间里,这些人距离储存数千加仑水的蓄水池不超过20英尺,焦烁地等待着这些天来令他们无比痛苦、几乎耗尽他们全部心力的东西---饮水。


据说,在场的一名军官后来报告说:“我相信我们都从别是巴(Bersheba)到谢里亚井(Sheriah Wells)的艰苦行军中学到了第一堂真正的圣经课。如果我们都如此这般地渴望神,渴求祂的公义,寻求祂在我们的生命中的旨意,那种充满激情、无所不包、全神贯注的渴望,我们将会结出何等丰富的圣灵的果子?”


During the LIBERATION OF PALESTINE in WWI, a combined force of British, Australian, and New Zealand soldiers was closely pursuing the Turks as they retreated from the desert. As the allied troops moved northward past Beersheba they began to outdistance their water-carrying camel train. When the water ran out, their mouths got dry, their heads ached, and they became dizzy and faint. Eyes became bloodshot, lips swelled and turned purple, and mirages became common. They knew that if they did not make the wells of Sheriah by nightfall, thousands of them would die – as hundreds already had done. Literally fighting for their lives, they managed to drive the Turks from Sheriah.

As water was distributed from the great stone cisterns, the more able-bodied were required to stand at attention and wait for the wounded and those who would take guard duty to drink first. It was four hours before the last man had his drink. During that time the men stood no more than twenty feet from thousands of gallons of water, to drink of which had been their consuming passion for many agonizing days.

It is said that one of the officers who was present reported, “I believe that we all learned our first real Bible lesson on the march from Beersheba to Sheriah Wells. If such were our thirst for God, for righteousness and for His will in our lives, a consuming, all-embracing, preoccupying desire, how rich in the fruit of the Spirit would we be?”

2003年,一群来自母会海华郡中华圣经教会(CBCHC)的基督徒领受神的异象,有感于巴尔的摩地区众多华人同胞的福音需要,于同年9月租用 Shelbourne Baptist Church 的场地开始聚会,并成立巴郡中华圣经教会 (CBCBC)。教会于2017年9月搬至新租用的Holy Nativity Lutheran Church,主要服事来自世界各地的华人移民,周边学校的华人学生学者,在美国出生的亚洲人, 及跨文化和美国的家庭。我们除了主日中文崇拜,还办有成人主日学以及针对学前班和学龄班的主日学,同时提供婴儿照看。
